Environment
At DPP we know what our main impacts are on the environment; we want to reduce them and so lessen our carbon footprint. To achieve our goals will require a behavioural change. This is how we do it:
| |
• |
Reduce energy: we proactively turn off lights and IT equipment limiting usage. We encourage people to think about the little things which can add up to make a big difference; |
• |
Minimise business travel: We use video conferencing facilities in all of our offices and encourage everyone to use public transport where possible. We will soon have a company car fleet below 160g CO2 per km; |
• |
Avoid waste: We have reviewed our procurement approach to encourage the purchasing of recycled materials and to reduce packaging waste. We encourage the use of recycling by providing the appropriate facilities to enable this; |
• |
Reduce paper usage: technical advances mean there is less need for printing and we ensure we submit applications and reports online where possible and have improved our internal processes so that we print less and print double sided. |
DPP will significantly reduce our carbon footprint and our paper usage by 2014. In the short time we have tracked this we can already see a positive attitude and proactive engagement by the business with this important corporate objective.
