The Welsh Assembly Government has today (29 June 2010) unveiled a new report into the future of the planning system in Wales and accepted all of its recommendations.
The report, called “Study to Examine the Planning Application Process in Wales”, finds that the Welsh planning regime is “under stress” and is not “fit for business”.
The report highlights major inconsistencies in the way planning applications are treated. For example, one local authority turned down just 2 per cent of applications that were missing important information, whereas a neighbouring authority refused 70 per cent.
