Replacement foodstore, Wolverton, Milton Keynes - Tesco Stores Limited

Image supplied by Saunders Architects

DPP Heritage worked alongside planning colleagues to negotiate with local planning authority offices, English Heritage and local groups to support proposals for a replacement foodstore in a conservation area. Despite officer support the proposals were refused and an appeal was necessary to secure conservation area consent and planning permission.

At the public inquiry the Inspector found in support of the redevelopment proposals, considering that the new store, designed to face the street, would enhance the character and appearance of the conservation area. She agreed with our evidence regarding the relative contribution of conservation area buildings and supported the proposals for part retention of a former fire station building.
