Listed buildings

DPP Heritage & Design advises on proposals and prepares strategies to alter or extend listed buildings. We prepare applications for listed building consent and supporting heritage statements (comprising statements of significance) to secure permission for works; this includes liaison and negotiation with English Heritage, Cadw, Historic Scotland and local authority conservation and design officers.

Where necessary, we prepare expert evidence to support proposals that affect listed buildings and their settings at planning appeal. We have a strong track record of successfully appearing as expert witnesses at public inquiry, including major cases of national importance.

We offer expert, informed advice on listing/de-listing, applications for immunity from listing and representations to rebut applications for the listing of buildings and structures.

Our team prepare Conservation Plans, based upon assessment of significance to guide the future alteration, use and management of listed buildings, particularly as part of larger estate portfolios.

We have experience of pilot study management plans to agree the works that will require consent and how future proposals for alteration, extension and general management should be framed and handled.

In summary we are very experienced in all listed building matters and the promotion of our clients' interests where change is proposed. We have worked on some of the most important and outstanding listed buildings in the country as well more modest 'high street' buildings, nevertheless valued for their interest.
