Distribution Centre, Melksham

DPP was instructed by Liberty Properties and Cereal Partners UK, the UK’s second largest cereal manufacturer, to assist in the provision of a UK distribution centre for Shreddies and Shredded Wheat. The
13,100 m2 distribution centre occupied a prominent rural location in Melksham, Wiltshire. Accordingly, a unique design solution was required to minimise the apperance of the unit. Following detailed dicussions with the local planning authority and stakeholders, the final design incorporated a horizontal graduation of green coloured panels.
Services Provided• DPP co-oridanted a multi-disciplinary team in the development of a scheme which met the needs of the end users but also satisfied the local planning authority and the local town council.
• DPP prepared a planning supporting statement and co-orinated a transport impact assessment, ecological assessment and a lighting statement in support of the proposals.
• DPP led pre-application discussions with the local planning authority and stakeholder groups as well as co-oridinating presentations to local interest groups. DPP also liaised with the local planning authority throughout the application process.
Following the granting of consent, DPP co-ordinated the discharge of conditions and the approval of minor amendments to the scheme.
AchievementsBy liaising closely with officers and stakeholder at the pre-application stage, DPP ensured that all matters were largely agreed in advance of the submission of the application. This meant that the application was successfully determined within the statutory period with no objections received.
DPP subsequently managed the approval of minor amendments to the sceheme and the discharge of conditions enabling the completion of unit within 12 months of the consent being issued.
