Huddersfield Sports Centre - Kirklees Council
Image supplied by Aedas Imaging
A replacement sports centre to serve Huddersfield town centre. The proposed facility is to be located on the Springwood Car Park site and will replace the existing facility on Old Leeds Road, which is considered dated and no longer fit for purpose. The application site is a highly sustainable location, within Huddersfield Town Centre and close to the town’s bus station.
The proposal includes a range of sustainability initiatives including a biomass boiler, combined heat and power and a sedum roof. DPP co-ordinated the preparation of the planning application, prepared the supporting planning statement and inputted into the Environmental Statement.
Services Provided
We provided planning advice throughout the design stages of this project, taking account of the need to liaise with many relevant organisations and interest groups and working tightly to a fixed budget. We submitted the planning application in February 2010.
AchievementsIf successful, the new sports centre will provide the community with a state-of-the-art facility in a sustainable location.
