Heritage
In March this year a Government White Paper - Heritage Protection for the 21st Century - proposed a major shake-up of the protection of the historic environment. This will be the first significant overhaul of the heritage planning system for more than 50 years. The aim is to introduce a more unified approach to the multiplicity of consents and encourage more consultation and involvement. There will be significant changes to the way historic assets are protected. Some of the changes in procedure have already been piloted, and DPP’s Heritage team has been involved in many of these schemes.
Did you know that there are around half a million listed buildings and 8,000 conservation areas in England alone? Or that about a third of all planning applications involve heritage assets of one type or another?
This is why you should ask us for heritage advice. Our heritage case studies demonstrate how we balance protection of assets with the need for sympathetic development, and how we work productively with bodies such as English Heritage and CABE to secure positive outcomes for clients.
Our Heritage team, led by Roger Mascall, is based mainly in London but serves the interests of DPP clients all over the country. Contact Roger for advice or to arrange a meeting.
